So, you’ve decided to perform a planetary candle ritual. Perhaps you’ve purchased an Astro Magic candle, studied the correspondences, and selected a favorable planetary hour. You’ve even cleared a little space on your table and assembled everything you think you might need. Now comes the part that seems to make everyone nervous: What the hell are you supposed to do?
Planetary Correspondences: Colors, Metals, Symbols, and Their Meanings
There is something wonderfully absurd about the idea that the gods, who have supposedly governed human affairs for thousands of years, might refuse to cooperate because someone purchased the wrong shade of green candle at Michaels. Imagine explaining to Venus that you’ve assembled the appropriate herbs, prepared an elaborate petition, and selected a favorable planetary hour, but unfortunately, the craft store was sold out of emerald green candles and all you could find was sage. Is the goddess of love really going to turn you away because your ritual doesn’t meet her interior decorating standards?

How Does Planetary Magic Work? The Art of Negotiating with the Gods
The gods do not have a customer service department, although you wouldn’t know it from some of the advice circulating in contemporary magical communities. Apparently, all you need to do is light the appropriate candle, announce your desires, visualize the outcome, and wait for the heavens to process your request. Jupiter will handle your finances, Venus will arrange your romantic affairs, and Mercury will make sure that job interview goes splendidly. What Is Planetary Magic? A Beginner’s Guide to Astro Magic
There is something magnificently arrogant about planetary magic. For centuries, human beings have looked toward the heavens, contemplated the gods who supposedly govern their circumstances, and decided that observing their influence wasn’t nearly enough. The Gods want an audience. But people want results. Traditional astrologers developed elaborate methods for interpreting the intentions of the heavens, but practitioners of planetary magic entertained a more audacious possibility: perhaps the forces governing human experience could be approached, petitioned, and persuaded. If Venus governs love, why should we remain passive when our relationships are falling apart? If Jupiter presides over prosperity, why shouldn’t we ask for a little more of it? And if Saturn insists upon making life difficult, surely there must be some way to negotiate with the old bastard.
