The prime newsmaker this week is a lunar eclipse that occurs on Friday, November 19, 2021 at 28 Taurus. This lunar eclipse is sandwiched between the fixed stars Caput Algol (off with your head) and Alcyone (something to cry about), so it is intense, especially as Venus rules the eclipse and is in Capricorn. Eclipse energy is highly potent. If you know your chart, look at the house with Taurus on the cusp, and this will reveal the areas of life that will be influenced.

The sign of Taurus has to do with resources, money, and values. These are subjects are often activated with an eclipse in the sign of the bull. Since astrology is an instructive language, this eclipse tells us that we need to look at how we manage our financial matters, how we obtain goods, and what is important to us. I have long believed that our checkbooks reveal where our true values lie, because it is a ledger of what we purchase and where we spend our funds.

Since this eclipse is conjoined two negative fixed stars, we can expect financial woes to be headline news and potentially further problems with the supply chain. We can also expect political infighting related to money to become increasingly tense.

It’s going to be a volatile week that will likely spontaneously combust, so buckle your seat belts!

Cosmic Overview:

Last week, I said that in mid-November, the ‘bowels of hell’ are going to open – and surprise, this is the week it begins.

On Wednesday, we have three major aspects that all come together during the day. Mercury, the planet of communication, forms a conjunction with powerful and impulsive Mars during the morning hours, and then the trickster god squares Saturn. Later in the day, Mars in full battle armor takes on Saturn himself, and the likely result will be increased tensions and frustrations over the next few days.

I’m not going to sugarcoat this; this series of aspects is rough business, and you need to stay on guard and try not to react as much as possible. Instead, you need to try to use your wise mind before making decisions. Of course, I will break the aspects down completely in the daily breakdown.

Anytime we go through rough cosmic energies, you need to take care of yourself, stay hydrated, and get plenty of rest. If you have a spiritual practice, I recommend meditation and taking breaks to reconnect with your higher source.

November 2021 AstroMagic Overview

I’m going to be blunt – it’s going to be a tough month. Perhaps, one of the toughest months of the year. Astrologically, we are building up to the final battle between Saturn (restrictions, limitations, isolation) and Uranus (freedom, rebellion) that occurs on December 24^th. So many themes of the past two years will resurface and be triggered as planets move through the sign of Scorpio. Also, we begin eclipse season on November 19^th with a lunar eclipse in money-oriented Taurus. So, buckle your seat belt!

Now, let’s dive into Scorpio season…

Reptiles have always been associated with the sign of Scorpio. The symbolism of the snake shedding its skin reflects Scorpio’s powers of transformation and its natural association with death and disintegration. And there is no better figure to represent the sign of the scorpion than the mythic Medusa.

There are various versions of Medusa’s origin story, but in all of them she is violated by the God Poseidon, and the result is a woman transformed by her outrage and bitterness. Medusa’s face is the embodiment of the horrors of life’s unfairness. If one stumbles across her and stares directly into her eyes, they become paralyzed and turn to stone.

On the personal level, the Medusa lives in all of us. We all experience life’s unfairness, whether directly, indirectly, or incidentally, and some life experiences leave us paralyzed. Psychologically, these experiences turn people into stone, and they become fixated on their wounds, unable to break free, preventing their growth and personal development.

Perseus (the son of Zeus) is tasked with going into Medusa’s layer, at the opening of the underworld (the unconscious), to slay the serpentine monster and retrieve her head. Perseus receives help on his mission from several divine beings who give him a few magical items. He enters Medusa’s lair and ultimately finds her. He uses a magical shield (think mirror) so that he does not look at Medusa directly, and then he cuts off her head and puts it in a magic bag. Once Medusa’s head is severed, out of the toxic blood and poison, Pegasus is born – a beautiful creature that becomes Perseus’s companion.

The good news is that myth always provides a solution, even to the most complex stories. Medusa represents our repressed toxic pain or self-defeating behaviors that leave us stuck and unable to grow. These feelings and behaviors have grown over time and taken over our lives. Perseus represents the process of working through our issues, and he does so by staring into a mirror. Now, I do not know about you, but when I look into a mirror, I see myself. So, Perseus reflects turning inward and seeing oneself honestly, and by seeing things clearly, one can turn toxic poisons into something productive and worthwhile. The horrors of Medusa transform into Pegasus, and out of the darkness of Scorpio comes the light of consciousness, and ultimately, freedom from toxins.

This is the power of Scorpio season. We can use its energy to transform the areas of our lives wounded into powerful tools that we can use to give life more meaning.

The other newsmaker this week is the New Moon in Scorpio. This New Moon is tricky because it’s in an exact opposition to Uranus in Taurus. Uranus is the planet of freedom, and this New Moon is excellent if you want to shake things up and reboot your life. It’s especially helpful for ridding yourself of energies, people, or situations that have been holding you back. Sometimes, to have a new beginning, you need to completely leave the past behind. There is a warning with this New Moon: don’t play with Uranus, make sure you want dynamic change before activating this planetary energy.

This is an aspect you want to use to your advantage, because it’s the last positive aspect between Venus and Jupiter (the lesser and greater benefics) for six months, because Venus turns retrograde in December. Venus sextile Jupiter is exceptionally beneficial and will definitely brighten your day. This aspect is excellent for financial concerns, investments, and legal matters.

On the relationship front, be mindful of Venus square Neptune that occurred on Tuesday. Forgiveness and working through relationship problems are crucial, but falling back into toxic patterns or believing that things will magically change is not. Venus sextile Jupiter can easily overlook issues, and this can lead to wishful thinking. Avoid looking at relationship issues with rose-colored glasses.

The astrology forecast for the week of October 18, 2021 – October 24, 2021 features a Full Moon in Aries, two major aspects (Mars trine Jupiter and Mars square Pluto), Mercury and Jupiter turning direct, and the beginning of Scorpio season. Cosmic energies will continue to improve with a large blip on Friday, but it should be a decent week.

Cosmic Overview:

First, Mercury turns direct on October 18, and minor annoyances and communication snafus may occur as Mercury stations and changes directions. As we move through the week, Mercury retrograde issues, particularly with relationships, will slowly improve. This is an excellent week to repair any damage to relationships or friendships that happened while the retrograde was active. Also, anything that you have put on hold during the retrograde can now be initiated and completed.

Since Mars is in Libra, you can also look at how you behave in relationships and let go of unhealthy personal patterns that may limit the relationship’s growth.
