Mars in Gemini is a welcome relief from the stagnancy of the sign of Taurus. Mras can now get the show on the road, and situations or circumstances that may have stalled will build momentum again. However, Mars in the sign of the twins may feel scattered and all over the place. You may have a difficult time focusing on what needs to be accomplished, because there are so many options and interesting that might catch your eye.

Working with Mars in Gemini requires keeping your big picture objectives in mind, and staying away from trivial pettiness that may distract you from your mission. Last week, Mars got tangled up in the ongoing Saturn square Uranus configuration. This week, it is the Sun whose up to bat. Whereas Mars is our ability to go out into the world and get what we want out of life, the Sun is our identity and our destiny.

Now, this is difficult energy, but every aspect has a purpose. In the case of Sun square Uranus and Sun oppose Saturn, the purpose is to get us to make the necessary changes in our lives, to get us back on the right path.

Of course, when our lives are running smoothly, who wants to make change? However, when the world impinges itself upon us through daily frustrations, obstacles, and limitations, we notice where we need to make changes, where we need to build structure, and ultimately helps us (despite the difficulty) get back on our path. Since we are working with the Sun, creating necessary change will ultimately help you experience fulfillment and joy.

The major aspect of the week is Mars conjunct Uranus in Taurus. Mars conjunct Uranus is an extremely unpredictable aspect, because it doesn’t like limitations, and will attempt to free itself from constraints. Of course, this creates enormous tension, and it’s easy to get caught up in impulsive decision-making, even if it’s to your detriment. You may also notice that people are more ‘on edge’ (or you may be), and the slightest provocation can lead to a volatile reaction.

Working with Mars conjunct Uranus is difficult, because it runs on energy and adrenaline, not rationality. So, you need to be as proactive as possible this week. Mars-Uranus does reveal the areas of your life that are limited, because these areas will be where you feel the most frustrations. Try to channel this energy into making changes in your life, but do so once the dust settles, so you can use your wise mind, not your momentary emotional response.

This week, Mercury travels through Leo and triggers Mars, Uranus, and Saturn, which have been building up recently, and it’s a powder keg of energy waiting to be unleashed. Just a gentle warning: Take care of yourself this week! Get plenty of rest, make healthy food choices, drink plenty of water, and since Mars is involved, move your body. This week, you should really put your self-care toolkit to use.

Since early July, Mars has slowly built steam, forming an explosive conjunction with Uranus and a frustrating square to Saturn. Also, Saturn and Uranus have been moving towards each other, bringing back the unresolved tensions of the last two years. Mercury will activate all these planets this week.

So, what does this mean?

For the last two years, Saturn in Aquarius has been in a difficult aspect to Uranus in Taurus. Simply, Saturn likes things the way they are and doesn’t like change. He dreams of the golden age, when everything was perfect and in its proper place. Conversely, Uranus wants to shake things up, tear down the system, and is the quintessential definition of change. He is concerned with pushing us forward into an idealistic world that ushers in human development and ingenuity. Uranus is perfectly comfortable tearing down the system if it fits into the grander scheme of things.

To add insult to injury, Mars JUST likes to blow sh!t up!

Over the next few weeks (Saturn square Uranus will be active for the rest of the year), the news will be littered with events that are explosive, eruptive, and downright jaw dropping. Expect problems around the world, potential governmental protests, escalation of tensions, and all out warfare in politics. If you’ve been planning an “info” break, this week would be a good time to unplug.

How does Mercury work into the mix?

In astrology, Mercury is the communication planet. He helps us understand life, communicate to others, and comprehend information that we may receive. It’s easily conceivable that when Mercury makes difficult aspects to other planets (especially malefic Mars and Saturn), how things can go downhill rather quickly.

You can expect tense conversations, frustrations with the state of the world and/or your life, and feelings of insecurity and self-doubt. However, the key to working with this energy is to be proactive.
