This week, the New Moon occurs in forward looking Aquarius. This is an extremely social New Moon that’s excellent for building your network and circle of friends. It’s also perfect for joining groups or organizations with like-minded ideas and beliefs. The sign of Aquarius is about progress, and it’s wise to surround yourself with people that support your personal vision and leave the haters behind.

In other news, Mercury turns direct in Capricorn on Thursday as his retrograde cycle ends. Over the past week, the focus has been on inner truths, and with Mercury going direct, you will face facts that may be radically different than your “truth”. Reconciling these two facts is important, because you can use knowledge and lessons learned to make your life better once Mercury slides back into Aquarius. Mercury moves into Aquarius on February 14^th.

Cosmic Overview

This week we have two sign changes – Mars moves out of Sagittarius and into Capricorn, and Mercury has unfinished business as he retrogrades back into the sign of the sea goat. So, there is a lot of Capricorn energy we will still be working through, despite the Sun having moved into Aquarius.

Capricorn is an earth sign. It likes things to be solid, secure, and stable, and is concerned with tangible reality. So, any planet that moves through the sign of the goat will express itself in Capricornian ways.

Mars is an action planet. He goes out into the world and gets you what you want, and is even willing to fight for it. However, rather than approaching things impulsively, Mars is strategic and has tenacity in earthy Capricorn. In Capricorn, Mars is concerned with position and status and is willing to work nonstop to achieve what he desires. While Mas is in the sign of the sea-goat, you can take advantage of Capricornian discipline and focus on projects that matter, helping push you to the next level. This is where you need to strategize your long game and look towards your big picture objectives.

Now, on to Mercury.

Mercury reversed course on January 14, 2022 in the sign of Aquarius. However, this week he will retrograde back into Capricorn. Whereas Aquarius is concerned with making your life better, Mercury moving back into Capricorn ensures you have all the facts straight. Mercury’s reflective mode in Capricorn will help Mars create better strategies that will help you once Mercury turns direct. Use this period to look at your life, stick to the facts, and then develop a plan of action (Mercury being copresent with Mars) to get the results you ultimately desire.

The Full Moon occurs in Cancer this week at 6:48 PM EST/3:48 PM PST. This Full Moon is potent because it opposes Pluto in Capricorn. The Full Moon opposing Pluto can bring up toxic familial drama or emotional situations where you have lost your power to deal with them internally or externally. Full Moons are emotionally intense, but this one is off the chain. So, get prepared!

Cancer Full Moons are an auspicious time to work through family of origin issues or to let go of emotional pain and hurts. It’s also an excellent time for healing work and ridding yourself of health issues. So, if you need to let go of something emotional, this is the Full Moon to get it done, once and for all.

So, with all the Neptunian energy and with the inclusion of Mercury retrograde, make sure you verify everything before making decisions, because the truth may be elusive and hard to grasp.

Cosmic Overview:

This week, Mercury joins the love goddess (Venus) by turning retrograde in Aquarius on Friday morning. Mercury will remain retrograde until February 3, 2022.

At its root, the sign of Aquarius is about how we can improve our lives. Aquarius is about progress and pushing society forward, rather than staying stuck in the present or being bound to the past. Mercury moving through Aquarius augurs a time when we should focus on areas where we can improve our lives or focus on what needs to be fixed or repaired. Mercury turning retrograde in Aquarius helps us look at the decisions and choices we have made over the past three months that may be preventing our growth. This gives us the chance to course correct if necessary. The silver lining is that with Mercury being retrograde, we can see the areas that need to be fixed easier.

Mercury retrogrades before it can complete its conjunction to Saturn, but it will remain within orb for the next week. Mercury conjoined to Saturn is frustrating and can lead to negative mindsets. It may be difficult to communicate and express yourself to others. So, try to push away negative thoughts as they surface, and you may need to practice some self-care to manage your emotions.

Otherwise, traditional Mercury retrograde warnings are applicable. Make sure you back up electronic devices, finalize plans, and sign documents before the retrograde begins. Here is a checklist to help you during the retrograde cycle.

Let’s begin with the recommendations (Notice I didn’t use the lists of should or should not? Mainly because we should never should on ourselves).

Make sure you go over anything contractual thoroughly. Make sure all the i’s are dotted, and all the t’s are crossed. If you can get away with it, wait until after the retrograde is over to sign on the dotted line.
Avoid starting anything new. New projects tend to have communication problems and mishaps when initiated during this process.
Put a watch on your tongue. (If it is not worth saying, don’t say it)
Check your vehicles for any potential problems. Before Mercury goes retrograde, is the best time for a service call.
Avoid buying real estate or renting apartments. Usually, this means you will move again during a future Mercury Rx.
Using mail delivery services that offer tracking and insurance.
Check, recheck, and check again any travel plans you have or appointments on the books.
If you do travel, don’t take anything of importance or value. Only bring items that you do not care if they are lost or stolen.
Expect people from the past to resurface. However, once they crawl out of whatever cavern they came from, proceed with caution.
Back up all electronic devices.
Avoid buying an automobile.

The headliner this week is Jupiter, who is finally moving out of Aquarius and back into his own sign of Pisces.

But, what’s the big deal about the big guy in the sky?

Jupiter is how we develop meaning in life. He is optimistic, benevolent, and expansive. He uplifts anything in the chart he touches, and is the Santa Claus figure of the cosmos. Since Jupiter rules Pisces, the sign he moves into on December 28, he has an added boost of planetary power and can help troubling matters. Essentially, Jupiter is our “Lucky Star.”

Jupiter in Pisces renews our faith through our belief in other human beings. I know that this is difficult to understand with so much division and strife in our world, especially since Jupiter’s benevolence has been reduced, being in the same sign as Saturn for two years. However, once Jupiter enters Pisces, he is free from Saturn’s influence, and our love and empathy for others should begin to return. Since Pisces is a malleable sign, we may begin to see people more receptive to the plight of others, and we can hope that selfishness is put aside for the greater good. More importantly, we will all be a little more compassionate in our dealings with others.

The first New Moon of the Year happens on January 2^nd in Capricorn. This is the most powerful point of Capricorn season, and it’s an auspicious time to start the year on a solid footing, especially since Capricorn season is goal-oriented and can give you an extra boost.

This New Moon is excellent for finding a new job, getting a promotion or raise, starting a business, or doing maintenance magic or intention work on an existing business. Capricorn season is also excellent for reputation building and repair. And, of course, since Capricorn is an earth sign, focusing on your finances never hurt anyone.

Stay on your toes, because conflict could easily erupt, especially if grievances have been brewing beneath the surface. Remain as proactive as possible, and don’t react to anything you may potentially regret later.

Wednesday brings us two major aspects – Mercury conjunct Venus Rx and Mars sextile Saturn.

During the early morning hours, Mercury conjoins Venus Rx in Capricorn. If you’ve experienced troubles in your relationships because of Venus Rx, Mercury conjoining the love goddess will help you understand your relationship on a deeper level. It’s also a good time to open the lines of communication and get your feelings out in the open in a constructive way.

Later in the day, Mars sextiles Saturn in Aquarius. Mars sextile Saturn augurs a time to plan and strategize your next step. It’s great for career ambitions, and you should use this energy to go after what you want, especially if it’s something you would love to do. The only drawback to this aspect is the need to be patient and take things one step at a time. The slower you go, the better your results will be.

During the early morning hours, Mercury moves into Aquarius, the sign he will turn retrograde in on January 14^th. Mercury in Aquarius helps us put the puzzles and pieces of life together, as we understand that life is a tapestry of one experience leading to another. We are given the gift of understanding patterns both personally and universally. While Mercury is in Aquarius, it’s much easier to get to the truth and use it to your advantage.
