After the burst of energy we received during Aries Season, this week will be a difficult pill for many to swallow. Saturn forces us back to the planet Earth, and usually, he comes with a few lessons. Usually, lessons we would rather avoid.
Saturn is the planet of limitations and restrictions. He wants us to take the “long road” rather than the express route. Saturn requires patience, hard work, and for each of us to take responsibility for our actions. If we work with Saturn productively, he reveals the problem areas of our lives and provides us with solutions. If we avoid Saturn or choose to ignore him, we may experience depression, loneliness, or become overwhelmed by duties and obligations.
So, it’s better to work with the curmudgeon and pay him his coin because he ultimately does reward us IF we do the work he requires.
Hot Spots of the Week:
Mercury and Venus square Saturn in Aquarius
Venus and Mercury’s daily jobs involve bringing people together. Mercury performs his day-to-day job by creating opportunities for people to communicate and share ideas. Venus operates by connecting people through interpersonal relations, such as romantic encounters, business partnerships, and even our interactions with our enemies.
As Mercury and Venus move through a sign, they interact with other planets by forming aspects. If those aspects are sextiles or trines, then the interactions are usually helpful. However, when the aspect is either an opposition or a square, obstacles, frustrations, and difficulties may occur. This week that square is to Saturn.
Let’s start with Mercury. Mercury square Saturn may limit your ability to communicate. In some cases, this can be helpful because you may take time to express your thoughts and ideas and be more considerate and deliberate in your conversations with others. But Mercury square Saturn can also make you feel insecure, shy, or fearful of being misunderstood. You may be sensitive to other people’s criticisms and may experience anxiety when expressing yourself to others. The key to working with Mercury square Saturn is to try to stick to the facts, be practical, and avoid conversations where you may feel triggered.
Now, Venus square Saturn can be troublesome. It reflects a time in the cosmos where you may have difficulties relating to others. You may feel isolated, inadequate, and insecure in your relationships, and you may constantly be questioning whether you are loved or lovable.
These are some rather horrible feelings! If Venus square Saturn personally triggers you, then it implies that something might be happening in your relationships that have built up over time that has you feeling this way. Since Saturn shows us problem areas, there are a couple of questions that you need to ask:
- Are you giving more than you are getting out of your relationships? (if you answered yes, see below)
- Are your needs being met in your relationships? (if you answered no, see below)
To use Venus square Saturn effectively, you need to be completely honest about your relationships (all of them). Relationships are tricky, and sometimes it is difficult to ask for what you need because you are afraid of being rejected, emotionally abandoned, or losing the connection altogether. You may also be fearful that if you do not put all the effort into the relationship, that your partner may get their needs met by someone else. Saturn doesn’t create problems. Saturn shows you that they exist and tells you that the issues need to be fixed to feel safe and secure and not filled with self-doubt and insecurity.
It may be time for you to stand up and ask for what you want and need out of your relationships, and if that means that you part ways with your partner, then the connection was one-sided anyways. However, if you ignore Saturn and continue to do the ‘same old same old,’ the problems will only become more severe over time, and the person you will lose will be yourself. There is nothing unhealthy in asking for your needs to be met; there is unhealthiness in continuing to abuse yourself by being a doormat.
Full Moon in Scorpio
In February, we had the first of three squares occurring between Saturn and Uranus – the most significant aspect of 2021.
In December of 2020, I wrote the following for my February monthly article for Coventry Creations:
“On the personal level, Saturn square Uranus signifies the need to change structures that may be too rigid or that you are hanging onto because they are comfortable. Of course, any time we are faced with the need to make changes, frustrations and anxieties often arise, so Saturn square Uranus can be extremely troubling, especially if there is little room for progress in your life.”
This week, the Full Moon in Scorpio triggers Saturn square Uranus. Full Moons are known to ripen issues that have been building up steam to maturity. Problematic areas of your life that you have avoided will be retriggered. It may foreshadow a release or end of something in some area of your life in typical Scorpio fashion. One thing to count on is that intense feelings will emerge, and these feelings may reveal what needs to change in your life. It would be wise to listen closely.
Sun conjunct Uranus in Taurus
The final aspect of the week is the Sun conjoining Uranus on Saturday. Sun-Uranus aspects reflect the need to break free from ordinary hum-drum living. In other words, the day in and day out activities that we all become accustomed to and have become habitual. It’s time to shake things up and do something different. Be adventurous. Explore interests that you have put on the shelf or haven’t had time to do.
See you next week!
